About Cate

An organizer by nature, declutterer by necessity, and optimist by choice, Cate loves helping others streamline their homes so they can get the most out of their space.

Finding her perpetually decluttering and organizing for fun, her husband prompted her to start a professional organizing business in 2022. The House Half Full is more than a business, though. It is truly a passion project.

Cate grew up in Arroyo Grande where she still lives with her husband and two boys.

Hall Closets

Oftentimes closets are crammed with so much stuff, the items go unused because it is easier to buy more than use up what is already there-somewhere. Case in point: the hand soaps in this closet! There were about 20 of them floating around, hidden behind other things. I also gathered all the extra consumables from …

Entryway Closet

This entryway closet was jam-packed with coats, sporting gear, reusable grocery bags, lost and found items, and so much more! As my usual plan, I removed all the items and grouped them into categories. Since this was a repeat client, I was able to re-home items I knew belonged somewhere else in the home. The …

Girl’s Closet/Dresser

This mini-client had so much crammed into her walk-in closet she couldn’t even walk into it! Her dresser was similarly overflowing. I started this fun project by removing all the non-clothing items from the floor in the closet. There were toys, blankets, bedding, and more. The Client worked independently to sort through all the stuff …

FAQs

Where do you work?

I help people declutter and organize primarily in San Luis Obispo Counties.
An additional fee is added to projects located beyond 30 minutes travel time.

What types of projects do you do?

As a Professional Organizer I do anything from improving your current home to helping you transition to a new one.
I love helping people make the most of their space.
I organize garages, sheds, pantries, kitchens, bedrooms, offices, guest rooms, closets, play rooms, living rooms, laundry rooms, and more.
Downsizing, getting ready to stage a home for sale, setting up your new home, getting ready for baby, or something else? I can help!

How do you charge?

I charge by the hour at a rate of $65/hour for in-home areas and $75/hour for garages and outdoor spaces like sheds.
There is also a fee added for projects located beyond 30 minutes travel time.

Do you do consultations?

Yes! I would love to come take a look at your space and see if I am a good fit for your project!
Assessments are always free.

How does the process work? Do I have to be there?

In most cases, we will work together to transform your space.
It is not usually necessary for you to be there for the entire process.
For example, I can work independently to sort items in the space and then do the final organization.
You will be required to be part of the decluttering process as I cannot decide what is or is not important to you.
The decluttering can be done on your own time if you prefer,
although oftentimes it is beneficial for me to assist in this step of the process.

How long does it take?

In general, an "average" room can be decluttered and organized in roughly 10 hours, spread over 2-3 days.
Obviously this is going to depend on how much stuff is in the room and how quickly you are able
to make decisions during the decluttering process.

TESTIMONIALS

Client Reviews

Cate is a dream to work with. She left me mentally and physically feeling lighter with her help decluttering and organizing our spaces. She transformed my spaces to the functionality my family (let’s be honest: I) was in desperate need of (for my family). I will definitely be using her services again for more spaces within my house.

Cate was amazing to work with. She came by before we began the project to really get a feel of how we used the space and what goals I wanted to achieve. My kids’ playroom went from being a place no one spent much time in to my kids asking for a “sleepover” in it. We cleared out 5 packing boxes of toys and our space looks much leaner with more space for the things we love.

I was so impressed with Cate’s professional organizing skills! It felt like I was on an episode of home edit. I also appreciated all of the suggestions for sustainability. Thank you!

Cate is absolutely worth her weight in gold! She comes in with her sleeves rolled up and ready to dive in. I have used her numerous times at both my home and business and every time I am blown away at the end results.

Cate Adams is the gift we give ourselves that gets better and better with time! My partner & I moved to Arroyo Grande and were completely overwhelmed with a house in shambles and a demanding job that keeps us going 7 days a week! When I heard about Cate, I knew she was the perfect solution to bring peace into our lives.

She was all that and so much more! First of all, she’s a cool, funny, amazing person who just happens to be more organized than anyone I’ve ever met. She unpacked, arranged, organized and put our closets together…can you say color coordinated? No worries now getting dressed in the early morning dark. I know where everything is like never before!

I’m keeping Cate of The House Half Full’s card on my refrigerator door. I want to make sure it’s readily available when I need sanity in a crazy and unorganized world. You should definitely do the same.”
